Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the first of many planned Star Wars anthology films. The film takes place between Episodes III and IV of the saga, and it reveals how the rebel alliance got a hold of the death star plans. The film focuses particularly on Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), the daughter of a major death star architect. Other stars in the film include Diego Luna as Captain Cassian Andor, Ben Mendelsohn as Orson Krennic, Donnie Yen as Chirrut Îmwe, and Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera

The film starts off a little slow, but it gradually gained momentum and ended in a very satisfying manner. My favorite character in the film was Chirrut Îmwe, who had a lot of comedic dialogue, in addition to the K2-SO droid. I also loved Darth Vader in the film, and although his appearances were brief, they were very enjoyable (enough to give me the chills). The visual effects and CGI was virtually flawless, with a few exceptions. There was a couple instances of motion-capture characters in place of humans, and one of those characters looked natural and real. The other looked very detailed, but I could tell that it was animated. Maybe that’s just because I’ve seen a lot of movies and I have a good eye for what is and isn’t special effects. The music was pretty good, and it borrowed some from the other Star Wars movies, but you could tell that it wasn’t John Williams fanfare material.

Overall, Rogue One was a good movie and I’ll probably see it again in theaters. I’ll give Rogue One: A Star Wars Story a 4/5. I liked it more than The Force Awakens, but I still enjoyed that movie a lot. I would suggest watching in 2D, because I don’t think that the 3D experience will add anything to the movie, but that’s just my personal preference.
